Established in 1999, Yenepoya Medical College is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore for degree awarding purposes. The college initially admitted a batch of 100 MBBS students in 1999. In 2005, after receiving approval from the Medical Council of India, postgraduate courses were introduced in seven departments. Currently, Yenepoya Medical College offers postgraduate programs in 20 departments. In 2009, the college was designated as a constituent college of Yenepoya University, which is a deemed-to-be university under section 3(A) of the UGC Act 1956, as per notification number F 9-11/2007 U-3 dated 27-02-2007. The College received permission from the Medical Council of India in 2011 to admit 150 students annually in the MBBS course, starting from the academic year 2011.
Course, Fees and Eligibility
Admissions
For admission to the MBBS program, candidates need to participate in KEA counseling after qualifying the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). Similarly, for MD/MS programs, candidates must apply for PGET counseling after clearing the requisite entrance examination.
Diploma holders who meet the eligibility criteria specified in the ordinance of Allied Health Science Courses are eligible for lateral entry into the B.Sc. programs.
To be eligible for the MD/MS programs, candidates should have completed the MBBS program within the maximum duration specified, which is not more than two additional years beyond the minimum duration. Additionally, candidates applying for the postgraduate programs must not exceed 45 years of age (with a relaxation of 3 years for SC/ST candidates).
The selection of candidates for MBBS and MD/MS programs is carried out through KEA counseling. The institute reserves seats for eligible candidates in accordance with the norms established by KEA and the Karnataka State Government.
Placements
There are abundant placement opportunities available at our college. However, if you prefer, you have the freedom to pursue opportunities in hospitals of your choice. Personally, after completing my course, I joined a hospital that offered better prospects, despite it being located far away. The college ensures that students are provided with attractive package options ranging from 20,000 to 25,000/- depending on the company or hospital.
Our college offers excellent placement support, providing coaching facilities for PG entrance exams and even transportation to reach coaching centers. The departments are highly responsible and committed to assisting students in their career pursuits.
