Vasan Institute Of Ophthalmology and Research is an educational institution situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Established in 2002 as part of the Vasan Eye Care Hospitals group, the college operates under the leadership of Dr. A.M. Arun, the founder trustee. It is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G. R Medical University and shares a similar mission with Vasan Eye Care Hospitals. The college’s primary objective is to nurture and educate aspiring optometrists, equipping them to serve society and the world at large. Recognizing the crucial role eye doctors play in detecting and preventing vision-related diseases that can significantly impact people’s lives, the college provides various facilities such as libraries, laboratories, computer labs, and state-of-the-art classrooms. Additionally, students benefit from a range of practical exposure opportunities, including internships, guest lectures, and educational visits to industries. At the undergraduate level, students can choose from two subjects, while at the postgraduate level, one subject is available for specialization.

Admissions
BOPTM (Bachelor in Optometry)
To be eligible for the BOPTM program, candidates must have successfully completed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent from a recognized board in India. They must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
M.Optom (Master of Optometry)
To be eligible for the M.Optom program, candidates must hold a recognized Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in the relevant field. They should have achieved a minimum of 50% marks in their undergraduate studies.
