Founded in 1948 by the State of Karnataka (formerly the Government of Mysore), University Law College (ULC), Bangalore, was originally recognized as Bangalore Government Law College. In 1964, it became a part of the Faculty of Law at Bangalore University. Subsequently, in 1986, the college introduced a postgraduate LLB program. At present, ULC offers three programs, including an integrated BA and LLB course and LLM with specializations in Criminal Law, Business Law, Labour and Capital Law, Environment and Legal Order, and Constitution and Legal Order.

Admissions
The BA LL.B course requires a minimum of 45% marks in 10+2 for eligibility. As for LL.M, candidates must have scored at least 50% marks in their 3/5 year LL.B degree. Admission to the LL.B course is based on merit, while for LL.M, it is contingent upon performance in the All India Admission Test.
To be eligible for Ph.D., candidates must possess an LL.M degree with 55% marks. Admission to the Ph.D. program is conducted through an entrance exam conducted by Bangalore University.
Placements
The Campus Placement & Internship Cell at University Law College, Bangalore, operates as a student-led body within the college to facilitate both placements and internship opportunities for its students. Throughout the academic year, the Placement Cell functions autonomously under the guidance of the College-appointed Faculty Coordinator, a Senior Faculty member, and the College Principal.
Its primary objective is to establish a platform that connects students with potential Recruiters, offering job opportunities, internships, placements, and other employment avenues. The Placement Cell proactively invites Recruiters to conduct on-campus or off-campus interviews and recruitment processes. The aim is to foster a positive relationship among students, College Faculty, and esteemed Recruiters, ensuring mutual benefits for all parties involved.
Through the efforts of the Campus Placement & Internship Cell, we strive to cultivate strong ties between students and various Recruiters, including Law Firms, Companies, Government & Non-Government Organizations, Judicial Authorities, Advocates, Solicitors, and other entities that seek to employ students from University Law College. Renowned law offices, firms, and companies, such as Dua Associates, King and Partridge, Anup S Shah Law Firms, L & T Constructions, King Stubb and Kasiva, Aditya Narayan & Co., Shiva and Co., Spectrum Legal, M/s Sundaraswamy and Ramdas, Just Law, Equitas Legal, Agraa Legal, Pragati Law Chambers, Thakur & Sinha Law Offices LLP, HPE, Wipro, and many others, have actively participated in the Placement and Internship Cell in the past.
