The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, established by the Government of Tamil Nadu through an Act of State Legislature, had its inauguration on September 20th, 1997, by His Excellency Thiru K.R. Narayanan, the President of India. Since October 3rd, 1997, the University has been actively functioning. It derives its name from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, an eminent Indian legal expert of the 20th century. The University offers a diverse range of specializations at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At the postgraduate level, the University provides advanced degree programs through its specialized Law Departments. These programs encompass areas such as Business Law, Constitutional Law & Human Rights, Intellectual Property Laws, International Law and Organizations, Environmental Law & Legal Order, and Criminal Law & Criminal Justice Administration.
