Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University (TNPESU), located in Chennai, holds the distinction of being India’s first state university dedicated to Physical Education and Sports. It was established in 2004 through an Act passed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), TNPESU offers a comprehensive range of programs at the undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), diploma, certificate, and postgraduate diploma levels in various domains such as Physical Education, Yoga, Exercise Physiology, Bio-Mechanics, Sports Management, Sports Psychology and Sociology, Advanced Sports Training, and Sports Technology.
The university follows a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for all its regular courses, providing flexibility to students in selecting their preferred subjects. Currently, TNPESU comprises three faculties, six departments, and ten affiliated colleges, contributing to the holistic development of students in the field of Physical Education and Sports.

Admissions
Tamil Nadu Sports University (TNPESU) provides a range of distance education courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Additionally, the university offers a Postgraduate diploma program through distance learning. Interested candidates can submit their applications offline by paying a fee of INR 375.
For undergraduate studies, TNPESU offers programs such as B.Sc and BBA. At the postgraduate level, the university provides MBA and M.Sc. degrees with various specializations under the distance education mode.
Admission to all the distance learning programs at TNPESU is based on merit. Candidates are selected based on their academic achievements and qualifications.
