Established in 1998, Sriram College of Arts and Science is a renowned institute located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It offers 13 full-time degree courses and is considered a leading educational institution in the city. The college specializes in 10 undergraduate programs, including M.Phil, M.Com, BBA, B.Com, B.Sc., BCA, and MCA, covering disciplines such as Accounting & Commerce, Business & Management Studies, Science, and IT & Software.
Sriram College of Arts and Science prides itself on providing students with opportunities to gain professional expertise through its experienced and well-trained faculty members in subjects like Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. These courses, with a total of 830 available seats, are offered at affordable fees, enhancing accessibility and allowing students to acquire knowledge and skills in their chosen fields.
The college provides various facilities and infrastructure to cater to students’ needs, including an auditorium, boys’ hostel, cafeteria, girls’ hostel, gym, hospital/medical facilities, hostel, labs, library, and sports complex. The institute houses two hostels with a capacity of accommodating 545 students, while students have access to six well-equipped labs. Additionally, the college boasts a library with an extensive collection of 13,161 books and 2,500 journals.
Course, Fees and Eligibility
Admissions
To be eligible for the B.Sc program, students are required to have successfully completed their Class XII examination from a recognized Board in the Science stream, with a minimum aggregate of 50% to 60%.
For admission into the B.Com program, students must have cleared their Class XII examination from a recognized Board in the Commerce stream, with a minimum aggregate of 50% to 60%.
Candidates interested in the B.B.A program must have passed their Class XII examinations from any stream and a recognized board to be considered eligible.
To be eligible for the B.C.A program, candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in their 10+2 examination in any relevant stream, with English being a mandatory subject.
Placements
Students who have achieved above 70% marks have secured placements in esteemed companies such as General Motors, Caterpillar, TCS, L&T, Hyundai, JK Tyres, and others. The college does have a placement cell, but during my course period, no companies visited our campus. However, there was an opportunity for the ECE department where some of us attended interviews, and two students were successfully placed. It’s important to note that the college does not guarantee job placements. Ultimately, securing a job is the result of the student’s individual efforts and initiative.
