The Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, established in 1985 by Sri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust, later became the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research in 1994, being granted deemed university status by the Government of India. It is a self-financed private institute recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Notably, in the NIRF 2021 rankings, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research secured the 79th position in the overall category, 8th position in the dental category (NIRF 2021 ranking), and 14th rank in the medical category (NIRF 2021 ranking). Additionally, it holds the 47th position in the university category with an overall score of 47.17 (NIRF 2021 ranking) and the 21st position in the pharmacy category (NIRF 2021 ranking).
