Admissions
To secure admission to the first year of the four-year B.E. Degree course in engineering, candidates must meet any one of the following eligibility criteria:
Completion of the 12th (intermediate) examination or its equivalent from a recognized board, with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as the core subjects. The required percentage for eligibility is 50% for general candidates, 45% for backward class including Muslim candidates, 40% for MBC & DNC candidates, and 35% for SC/ST/SCA candidates.
Possession of a Diploma in Engineering from the State Board of Technical Education and Training Tamilnadu or an equivalent qualification.

Placements
The Placement Cell at SSCET Salem is dedicated to preparing students for the industry’s expectations right from the beginning. To achieve this, the cell conducts two hours of daily training sessions focused on Aptitude, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, as well as group discussions. Mock interviews are also conducted to enhance students’ interview skills. Special Communication Development Training programs are organized once a month by leading training institutes, and weekly communication development training sessions are held regularly. To increase students’ chances of placement in international companies, it is mandatory for all students to learn at least one foreign language (besides English) and obtain international certification. The college utilizes a well-equipped language laboratory to improve students’ communication skills, with English speaking being made compulsory for the same purpose.
