The admissions to B.Tech, M.Tech, M.B.A, and M.C.A programs at RGCET are based on the merit of the previous qualifying examination, evaluated by the Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC) at Pondicherry Engineering College, Puducherry. Qualified candidates who meet the cutoff are required to participate in the CENTAC counseling process. Final admission is granted after document verification and payment of the RGCET admission fees.

As per the RGCET placement report, based on data from the NIRF report for the academic year 2020-21, out of 363 eligible students in the undergraduate (UG) courses, 184 students secured placements with a median salary of Rs. 2,88,666, while 6 students opted for higher studies. Similarly, for the postgraduate (PG) courses, out of 74 eligible students, 21 students were placed with a median salary of Rs. 2,56,000.
