NIS Chennai, short for National Institute of Siddha, is a highly esteemed institution in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the eight national institutes established by the Department of AYUSH, Government of India, dedicated to the study and research of the Siddha system in medicine. Affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, NIS Chennai was founded on September 3rd, 2005. Additionally, the institute is approved by the Central Council of Indian Medicines (CCIM).
The selection of candidates for the courses offered at NIS Chennai is based on the merit score obtained in the All India Ayush PG Entrance Test (AIAPGET), conducted by the Ministry of Ayush, as well as counseling conducted within the institute. The education, syllabus, and curriculum at NIS Chennai adhere to the guidelines set by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), located in New Delhi. The institute offers an M.D. Siddha program with specialization options in 8 areas, along with a Ph.D. Siddha program with specialization options in 6 areas.

Admissions
Admissions to the M.D. (Siddha) course at this institute are based on the scores achieved in the All India AYUSH PG Entrance Examination (AIAPGET) conducted by the Ministry of AYUSH, followed by counseling held within the institute.
For PhD admissions, candidates are required to take a Written Entrance Test organized by the institute.
The M.D. program offers specialization options in 8 fields, while the PhD program offers specialization options in 6 fields.

While our college may have limited placement opportunities, students pursuing Ph.D. have numerous avenues available to them in both government and private sectors for job placements and internships. These opportunities offer valuable experience and contribute to their professional growth.
The college has established partnerships with several prominent hospitals, both within and outside the town. This enables students to undertake internships, some of which provide stipends. These internships are instrumental in providing hands-on experience in real-world scenarios. In my batch, all the students were successfully placed in reputable organizations, showcasing the positive outcomes of these initiatives.
