Nanjappa Polytechnic College, previously known as Nanjappa Institute of Technology, was established in October 1982 by the Tirupur Education Foundation. Its purpose was to provide technical education to the rural population in the region. Notably, it holds the distinction of being the first self-financing polytechnic approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the All India Council for Technical Education among all the self-financing polytechnics in the state. Initially located in Morattupalayam near Tirupur, the institution was later relocated to its current premises in Karumathampatti in 1989, as per Government Order 1002 dated 7.8.89. The Tirupur Education Foundation, which comprises educationalists in this area, successfully manages various renowned educational institutions, including Tamilnadu College of Engineering and Park College of Engineering and Technology in Karumathampatti. The late Thiru. M. Nanjappa B.Com served as the former managing trustee of the trust, and currently, Dr. P.V. Ravi, a distinguished educationalist and founder of multiple institutions, holds the position. Under his guidance and leadership, the institution continues to flourish and strengthen.
