Milagres Educational Institution was established in 1848 by Bishop Rt Rev. Bernardin. Initially, it began as an English Primary School offering classes from I to V, and later expanded to include higher classes. On July 23, 1929, the institution introduced the Higher Secondary school. Subsequently, the Government of Karnataka elevated the High School to a Pre-University College on July 5, 1982.
In pursuit of providing advanced education, the Management took the initiative to establish Milagres College in 2010. The college is managed by the Catholic Board of Education of the Diocese of Mangaluru and locally supervised by Milagres Church. It is a Christian minority institution affiliated with Mangalore University and recognized by UGC MHRD, Government of India, under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. Currently, the college offers various programs including Commerce (B.Com, since 2010), Hospitality Science (B.Sc., since 2016), Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics (B.Sc.), and Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics (B.Sc., since 2017). However, the Bachelor of Business Management (BBM/BBA) program, which commenced in 2010, has been discontinued since 2019-20.
Course, Fees and Eligibility
Admissions
Candidates who have successfully completed the II PUC Examination or any other examination recognized by Mangalore University as equivalent are eligible for admission to the B.Com / B.Sc. (HS) Degree Courses.
For admission to the B.Sc. FND program, candidates who have passed the II PUC/+2/XII STD Examination or any other examination recognized by the Education Department as equivalent, with a science stream, are eligible.
Candidates from outside the State of Karnataka must provide migration and eligibility certificates during the admission process.
Placements
The institute ensures abundant placement opportunities for its students. Upon reaching their final year, students receive consistent placement training. Additionally, an annual job fair takes place in March, organized by the institute.
Notably, the institute has achieved a 100% internship placement rate for its B.Sc. hospitality students during the sixth semester. These internships are offered in various national and international hotels.
Interviews for placements are conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of External Affairs Overseas Employment Division, which is part of the Government of India.
Every year, esteemed companies like Travel Craft, Career Point, International Trade Links, Global Services, Sound lines Consultancy, and Al Hudaif HR Consultancy conduct their placement drives on the campus.
