Laxmi Memorial College Of Physiotherapy, situated in Mangaluru, Karnataka, was established in 1993 by Laxmi Memorial Education Trust (R). The trust was registered in 1992. The institute is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in Bangalore, approved by the Government of Karnataka, and recognized by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP). Conveniently located at AJ Towers in Balmatta, just 3 km away from the railway station in Mangalore, Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy offers a comprehensive range of programs, including a Bachelor’s degree (B.PT), a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy (M.PT), and a PhD in Physiotherapy.
The college boasts excellent facilities for practical training, with access to the sophisticated multispecialty AJ Hospital in Kuntikana, Mangalore. This collaboration has enriched the educational experience and professional practice of physiotherapy. Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy, situated in the heart of Mangalore city, initiated the Master of Physiotherapy degree course in 2001, initially enrolling three students per year.
Course, Fees and Eligibility
Admissions
Candidates who have cleared the pre-university examination (10+2) or any other equivalent examination acknowledged by the board are eligible for admission. They should have secured a minimum of 40% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects, with English as a subject of study. For candidates belonging to SC/ST category, the minimum percentage required in the qualifying subjects is 35%.
Applicants who have successfully completed their Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) from universities recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) are eligible for admission to the Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) program. It is important to note that candidates who have obtained their BPT degree through correspondence or distance education programs are NOT eligible for MPT admission.
Placements
The college offers a mandatory 6-month internship for all students, which is a requirement to complete the course. Although there is no stipend provided for the internship, the college does offer free accommodation in the hostels for interns. During this internship period, students have ample opportunities to enhance their clinical and practical skills. While I personally have not undergone my internship yet, I can assure you that our college attracts the best interns who contribute to the overall learning experience.
