Established in 1963, the Institute of Hotel Management – Chennai is a renowned hotel management school that offers high-quality education in the field of hospitality administration. It is a collaborative effort between the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Government of India, with maintenance and regulation by the Aaditya Educational Foundation. The institute is affiliated with the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology and the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.
At the Institute of Hotel Management – Chennai, students receive comprehensive education in hospitality administration. The institute offers a full-time three-year degree program, B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. Each year, the institute admits 265 students for this course, which covers various aspects such as food production, beverage services, and accommodation operations. Additionally, IHM – Chennai provides diploma programs including craftsmanship in food production and beverage service, as well as a Post Graduate diploma course in dietetics and hospital food services.
Admissions
The admission process for IHM Chennai in 2023 is about to commence. For the Bachelor of Science course, admissions will be based on the scores obtained in the NCHMCT JEE examination. The application forms for NCHMCT JEE 2023 are expected to be released in the third week of December 2022, and interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official website.
To be eligible for the UG level B.Sc. in Hotel and Hospital Administration courses, candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% in English as one of the required subjects in their 10+2 examination. For admission to the Master of Science in Hospital Administration, candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Hospital Administration/Hotel Management from a recognized university. The selection for M.Sc. admission is based on NCHM-JEE scores and performance in the interview.
Candidates seeking admission to Diploma courses should have obtained a minimum of 50% in their 10+2 examination, while for PG Diploma courses, a bachelor’s degree with English as one of the subjects and a minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required. The selection process for Diploma courses is based on the performance in the qualifying examinations and availability of seats.
