The Institute of Hotel Management-Bangalore, formerly known as the Food Craft Institute, was founded in 1969 and was renamed in 1983. It is a collaboration between the Government of Karnataka and the Government of India. Since its inception, the college has been providing world-class education in the field of hotel management and is known for covering a broad spectrum of education in hospitality administration. It is affiliated with the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), a part of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

At IHM-Bangalore, students are trained by highly qualified professionals with extensive experience in the culinary arts. The institute offers a full-time, three-year Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management course. During the program, students are equipped with the skills and techniques required for food production and beverage service. IHM-Bangalore also provides a Post Graduate Diploma in Accommodation Operations and Hospitality Administration.

Admissions

To secure admission to any of the programs offered at IHM Bangalore, applicants must obtain a valid score in the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination (NCHMCT JEE).

General/OBC candidates are required to pay a registration fee of Rs. 1000, while SC/ST/PwD applicants must pay Rs. 450 (Rs. 400 for online applications). Candidates applying online may use credit/debit cards or net banking methods to pay the registration fees.

Candidates who clear the JEE exam will be invited for counseling in New Delhi. They must also appear for a Personal Interview (PI) round as part of the admission process.

Final admission of candidates is contingent on their overall ranking in the written test and interview.

For admission to Diploma courses, candidates must have completed or appeared in the 10th or 12th examination from any recognized board in India with English as one of the main subjects.

Placements

The placement specifics for IHM Bangalore 2023 have not yet been disclosed. Nonetheless, in IHM Bangalore’s placement campaign in 2019, there were 352 employment opportunities made available. The most substantial compensation offered during the placement drive was INR 5.08 LPA. Due to its prominence, the campus placements at IHM Bangalore are sought after by prominent recruiters, including Starbucks, Hyatt, DYSON, and JW Marriott.
