
Government Tool Room Training Centre (GT&TC) in Bangalore was established in 1972 through collaboration between the Karnataka State Government and the Government of Denmark, under the Bilateral Development Co-operation Agreement. The college is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E). GT&TC offers Bachelor of Engineering in Tool Engineering and Precision Manufacturing, as well as M. Tech in Tool Engineering.
As an autonomous society, GT&TC continuously updates its facilities and introduces new technologies like CAD/CAM, CNC machines for tooling, Precision Components, Laser for Industries, Rapid prototyping, vacuum casting, and more. The college places a strong focus on student placements, and its dedicated placement cell organizes timely aptitude skill tests, general orientation programs, group discussions, etc., to enhance student skills and prepare them for final interviews.
The institute’s primary objective is to improve efficiency, foster innovation, and adopt cutting-edge technologies to meet the diverse requirements of stakeholders effectively.
Admissions
GTTC provides a diverse range of educational programs, including Diploma, PG Diploma, B.E., M.Tech., Short Term Skilled Development Certificate courses, Govt. Sponsored Training Programs, and Corporate Trainings.
The application process conducted by GTTC is offline. For B.E. admission, candidates must have a minimum of 45% marks in 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The selection for B.E. programs is based on the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET).
To be eligible for M.Tech. admission, candidates must possess a B.E. or bachelor’s degree in relevant subjects with at least 50% marks. The selection for M.Tech. programs is based on the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
Short-term Skill Development Courses, Govt. Sponsored Training Programs, and Corporate Training are open to candidates who have passed SSLC/PUC/ITI/Diploma/B.E., depending on the chosen course. The selection for these certificate courses is based on the merit-cum-roster system.
Placements
The college’s dedicated examination team oversees the placement procedures, facilitating numerous opportunities for students. The institution boasts strong connections with esteemed companies such as HAL, BEML, NAL, as well as renowned private entities like TVS, GE, and more. These extensive industry links contribute to the college’s excellent placement record. The college’s reputable standing further enhances the students’ job prospects, and internships are offered across various departments to each student. The stipends for these internships are contingent on the companies in which the students undergo their training.
