Established in 1979, Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) was founded with the aim of providing top-notch education in the field of technology and serving the community. Over the years, BIT has achieved an outstanding level of excellence in technical education, thanks to the unwavering support of Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha, dedicated staff, and students. The college fosters an environment that encourages students to seek knowledge and strives for their all-round development.

BIT has always been at the forefront of technological advancements and holds the distinction of being the first college in Karnataka to offer a comprehensive degree in Computer Science and Engineering. With a forward-thinking approach, the institute has introduced various courses in anticipation of future growth. Presently, BIT offers 10 undergraduate, 10 postgraduate, and 13 research programs, attracting an annual intake of 1300 students. The college actively engages in interdisciplinary research through its research centers and maintains collaborative programs with prestigious institutions such as IISc and NAL. Additionally, the Chemistry department at BIT has gained recognition as one of the leading research centers in Karnataka. Moreover, BIT serves as a distinguished study center for IGNOU programs.

BIT takes pride in its faculty team, comprising 289 members who possess exceptional knowledge and teaching skills. Among them, 83 faculty members hold a PhD degree, while 71 are pursuing their PhDs. A significant portion of the faculty, sixty percent, has dedicated more than twenty years of service to BIT. The institution is also supported by a proficient and dedicated team of 294 supporting staff members.

Admissions

Established in 1979, Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) is a prestigious institute that offers a wide range of educational programs. It provides 10 undergraduate, 10 postgraduate, and 13 research programs to students. In the field of engineering, BIT has been recognized as the 52nd ranked institute by The Week. The institute is committed to delivering quality education in the fields of Engineering, Technology, Management, and Computer Applications. Prospective candidates are advised to stay updated on the admission-related information, including eligibility criteria, cutoffs, and counseling sessions. Having prior knowledge of these aspects will greatly assist students throughout the admission process.

The admission process for the year 2021 has commenced at Bangalore Institute of Technology. For MBA programs, aspiring students must appear for either CMAT or KMAT entrance tests. The registration window for KMAT closed in October 2020.

For admission to B.Tech courses, candidates will be selected based on their performance in the Common Entrance Test (CET) or COMEDK. Similarly, admission to M.Tech programs will be granted based on scores obtained in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Karnataka PGCET, or the institute’s own entrance test. Bangalore Institute of Technology conducts a separate entrance test for admission to the MCA program. Once selected, candidates need to complete document verification and pay the required fees at the institute.

Placements

The placement department of Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) was established with the objective of equipping students with the necessary skills and capabilities to become self-reliant, competent, and skilled professionals. During the placement process at BIT, students are provided with a range of training services and career guidance, including personality development, communication skills enhancement, interactive sessions, aptitude tests, confidence building, logical reasoning sessions, group discussions, mock interviews, training for public sector competitive exams, and industry internship programs.

In the year 2022, more than 150 companies participated in the placement drive at Bangalore Institute of Technology. A total of 1142 offers were extended to students, with 754 students successfully securing placements. The highest package offered to a student was Rs 38 LPA, while the average package stood at Rs 7 LPA. Prominent recruiters that actively participate in the placement drive at BIT include Accenture, Infosys, Capgemini, Cisco, OneDirect, Microfocus, Akamai, HPE, Nokia, SAP, Microchip, Bosch, Mercedes Benz, and Dell.
