Established in 1980, Visveswarapura Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (VIPS) is located in the picturesque city of Bangalore. The institute is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore and holds approval from AICTE, with accreditation from the Pharmacy Council of India. Course, Fees and Eligibility
Admissions
The institute provides various pharmacy programs at different academic levels. At the undergraduate (UG) level, the institute offers B.Pharm. Moving on to the postgraduate (PG) level, VIPS Bangalore offers M.Pharm in five different specializations. At the doctoral level, the institute offers Ph.D., a six-year Pharm.D, and a three-year Post Baccalaureate Pharm.D course.
To be eligible for the B.Pharm program, candidates must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Admission to this program is based on the candidate’s merit in the qualifying examination. Those who hold a diploma in Pharmacy can also apply for Lateral Entry admission to the second year of the B.Pharm program, with admission being based on merit.
For the M.Pharm program, candidates must possess a B.Pharm degree with at least 55% marks. The admission process for M.Pharm includes an entrance test conducted by the Entrance Test Cell, RGUHS, and candidates are selected based on their performance in the test.
Aspiring candidates for the Ph.D. program should have a Master’s degree in Pharmacy to be considered eligible. The admission to the Ph.D. program is based on the Ph.D. Entrance Test conducted by RGUHS.
For the Pharm.D program, candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects and Mathematics/Biology as an optional subject. For admission to the 6-year Pharm.D program, candidates must adhere to the rules prescribed by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). On the other hand, admission to the Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) program is based on the marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the Entrance Test Cell. Candidates applying to the Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) program must have a B.Pharm degree to be eligible for admission.
Placements
The Placement Cell’s primary objective is to establish a strong link between the institute and the industry. Operating under the guidance of experienced educators and learners, the placement department diligently endeavors to provide deserving students with promising job opportunities. To prepare students according to industry standards, the cell conducts workshops and training sessions.
Collaborating closely with the faculty members, the Placement Cell strives to achieve a commendable placement record. To broaden students’ exposure and enhance their personality, the cell arranges various industrial visits and personality development programs. Moreover, the cell offers valuable guidance to students, helping them specialize in specific areas aligned with market and industry demands. Thanks to the relentless efforts of the Placement Cell and the hard work of students, numerous companies recurrently recruit from the institute.
The highest package offered through placements stands at INR 15,000 per month. Distinguished companies such as Strides, Microlabs, GSK, Lotus Labs, Astra Ltd, Eli Lilly, Quintiles, Recon Comp., Ranbaxy, Zydus Cadila, and many others actively participate in the placement process and visit the campus regularly.
