Vidya Mitra

Established on November 24th, 1995, in Bangalore, the National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology (NIANP) operates under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. Its primary focus is to conduct essential research using physiological-nutritional approaches, aimed at enhancing animal productivity and ensuring the profitability of livestock farmers through effective animal feed resource management.

On August 13th, 2003, the Institute’s new campus was inaugurated by the esteemed Union Minister for Agriculture, Shri Rajnath Singhji.

Strategically located in Bengaluru, the institute sits on Hosur Road (NH7), approximately 8 kilometers away from the city railway station and Majestic bus station, as well as 45 kilometers from the airport.

Admissions

NIANP provides Ph.D. programs in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology for interested candidates.

The admission process for the Ph.D. program adheres to Jain University norms. Candidates must indicate their preference for working at NIANP in the specified area mentioned in the application form. Before enrolling in the college’s Ph.D. program, candidates are required to complete one year of pre-Ph.D. coursework at the University.

To be eligible for this program, candidates should hold a Master’s Degree or M. Phil degree in the relevant field. Additionally, applicants must have a fellowship from CSIR UGC NET/GATE/DST Inspire/DBT women or an equivalent qualification.

As part of the application, candidates need to submit a Statement of Purpose along with the application form. The admission process involves qualifying for a pre-Ph.D. entrance examination and a personal interview, which may also involve the presence of their parents.
