Established on July 14, 1975, Salem Sowdeswari College (SSC, Salem) was founded by the esteemed philanthropists and industrialists, Amarar Thiru. T.N.K. Govindaraju Chettiar and Thiru. J.K.K.Angappa Chettiar. SSC offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the Arts and Science streams. The institution is well-regarded and provides a diverse range of subjects within both disciplines.

Admissions
Salem Sowdeswari College offers a diverse range of academic programs, including B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, M.A, and M.Sc. It also conducts professional degree courses in BCA, BBA, MBA, and MCA, as well as research courses in M.Phil and PhD.
For admission to UG and PG courses, candidates are selected based on their performance in the previous qualifying examination. Eligibility for UG courses requires successful completion of the 12th standard examination. For PG admissions, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject.
Candidates aspiring to join the MBA program need to appear for the TANCET examination. Similarly, those seeking admission to PhD and M.Phil degree programs must appear for the entrance exam conducted by Periyar University.
To be eligible for research programs, candidates must have obtained a master’s degree with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks. The application process for all programs is conducted offline.
