Course, Fees and Eligibility
Admissions
To apply for admission, interested candidates are required to visit the college website and complete the online application form. Along with providing the necessary information, applicants must upload their X mark sheet, photograph, and Community certificate. A nominal application fee of Rs. 150 (Rupees One Hundred and Fifty) is applicable, except for SC/ST candidates who are exempted from paying the fee.
Government Polytechnic College welcomes applications from both male and female candidates, ensuring equal opportunities for all.
The admission process at the college strictly adheres to the reservation policy set by the Government of Tamil Nadu, ensuring fair representation and inclusivity.
Upon the submission of the online application, eligible candidates will be assessed and ranked based on their merit and community. Those who qualify will be invited to attend the counseling process.
- Successful completion of the tenth standard (X) / SSLC examination is a prerequisite.
- Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination with any of the following three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, Informatics Practice, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, or Entrepreneurship.
- As per the guidelines stated in the AICTE Approval Process Handbook 2021-22 on page 117, item iii, diploma holders are eligible to join the B.E. (Lateral Entry) program regardless of the branch they studied in the diploma course. This allows for flexibility in choosing the engineering discipline for further studies.
Placements
The process of campus recruitment for final year students commences in December each year. In cases where students have already graduated and remain unplaced, recruitment may also be conducted based on their availability.
Once students have reviewed the available opportunities, they can register at the Placement Centre. The number of interested students will then be communicated to the recruiting company.
Depending on the number of interested students, the company can decide whether to conduct the recruitment process at the college or at their own office. If the company prefers to conduct a pooled campus drive for multiple colleges, we are prepared to host it on our campus.
At the conclusion of the recruitment process, the Placement Officer will receive the list of selected candidates and offer letters. In cases where there is a delay in announcing results, students will be permitted to attend subsequent company interviews. However, if a student secures a placement with a subsequent company, they will no longer be eligible to accept an offer from a previous company, if selected.
